A New Descent into Supernatural Terror: The Arrival of ‘Yellow Eyes’

The indie horror landscape is about to get significantly darker. Screambox has officially dropped the promotional trailer for Yellow Eyes, a chilling new feature set to hit streaming platforms in the coming days. The film centers on a harrowing premise: a man becomes the vessel for a malevolent force after stumbling upon a cursed artifact. As the entity takes hold, his partner is thrust into a desperate race against time to secure an exorcist before his humanity is permanently extinguished.

The Return of Joe Swanberg

Behind the scenes, the project is backed by producer Joe Swanberg. Known for his distinct footprint in the independent film circuit, Swanberg’s involvement has sparked curiosity regarding his recent absence from the industry. With this latest venture, fans are left wondering: is this the start of a major comeback for the filmmaker?

Addiction, Blood, and Possession

The narrative follows Julia, who watches in horror as her partner, Brad, is consumed by a relic that acts as a gateway for a demonic presence. The film explores a terrifying dynamic where the demon transforms human desire into a lethal addiction, requiring a steady supply of blood to maintain its grip on the physical world. The cast features performances by Nena Martins, Michael Kunicki, Jimmy Chung, Margo O’Connell, and DeVaughn Loman.

While modern horror often relies on high-budget CGI, Yellow Eyes leans into a raw, visceral aesthetic. The trailer evokes the claustrophobic, low-budget intensity of early The Blair Witch Project, utilizing gritty cinematography to heighten the sense of dread. It captures that same “trapped in a nightmare” feeling that defined the golden age of independent supernatural cinema, proving that you don’t need a massive studio budget to create a truly unsettling atmosphere.
