The motivation for creating Tomahawk stemmed from a glaring lack of viable alternatives in the current market. As the VR industry matures, the disparity between traditional PC gaming security and VR security has become increasingly apparent. While PC titles benefit from robust, industry-standard solutions like BattlEye or Easy Anti-Cheat, VR developers have largely been left to fend for themselves.<\/p>\n

Albright was blunt regarding the state of the industry, noting that for a long time, Meta Attestation was essentially the only tool available to developers. “It\u2019s absolutely horrible,” Albright remarked, highlighting that the major anti-cheat platforms relied upon by traditional gaming giants have largely ignored the VR space, leaving developers with little to no protection against sophisticated exploits.<\/p>\n

Why VR Requires a Custom Approach<\/h3>\n

The challenge with porting standard anti-cheat software to VR is that the hardware and input methods are fundamentally different. With the rise of standalone headsets like the Meta Quest 3, which now accounts for a significant portion of the VR user base, security measures must be lightweight enough to run on mobile chipsets without compromising frame rates or battery life. <\/p>\n
