The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has officially unveiled the inaugural lineup for its Supernova incubation initiative. Out of a competitive pool of over 260 applicants, 15 promising pre-revenue studios have been chosen to participate in this intensive three-month developmental journey.<\/p>\n
Since its inception in July 2026, the Supernova program has been designed to bridge the gap between raw creative potential and commercial viability. By providing a structured environment, the program offers participants a comprehensive suite of resources, including expert mentorship, essential industry credits, and direct networking opportunities with high-profile investors and publishers. The culmination of this experience will be a high-stakes Demo Day held during the upcoming India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), where these studios will showcase their progress to the industry\u2019s key decision-makers.<\/p>\n
The strength of the Supernova program lies in its robust network of partners, which includes industry heavyweights such as Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Mintegral, and Lakshya Digital. A standout feature of this collaboration is the involvement of the Indus Appstore, which is providing the cohort with expedited onboarding processes and dedicated ad credits. These resources are vital for early-stage developers, as they significantly lower the barrier to entry for effective user acquisition-a critical hurdle in today\u2019s saturated mobile gaming market, where user acquisition costs have risen by approximately 20-30% annually over the last few years.<\/p>\n
Rajan Navani, who serves as a board member and chairperson of GDAI’s Incubation Subcommittee, emphasized the strategic importance of this cohort. “The selection of this inaugural group represents a pivotal step in a targeted growth trajectory for these 15 studios,” Navani noted. “Throughout the next quarter, Supernova will act as a catalyst, aligning mentors, technological infrastructure, and financial stakeholders to ensure each studio can tackle its unique operational and creative challenges.”<\/p>\n
This initiative mirrors successful global models like the Y Combinator or the Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Lab, which have historically proven that structured guidance can drastically improve the survival rate of startups. By focusing on pre-revenue entities, GDAI is effectively nurturing the roots of the Indian gaming ecosystem, ensuring that these developers have the foundational support needed to scale their operations sustainably.<\/p>\n
The 15 studios selected to pioneer the Supernova program include Absurd Games, Team Quasar, AbhiTech Games, Konkan Coast Studios, Dunali Games, Chitrakala Interactive, and Ashdev Studios, among others.<\/p>\n
