The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has announced that Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, will be inducted into its Hall of Fame next year.<\/p>\n
Over his 30-year career, Mikami has created several enduring IPs for Capcom and beyond, including Devil May Cry, The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo, and is described as “passionate about nurturing creative environments where the next generation of game developers can thrive”.<\/p>\n
Mikami currently leads Unbound Inc. as creative director and CEO.<\/p>\n
In a statement, AIAS president Meggan Scavio said: “Shinji Mikami is a monumental and influential figure for both fans and developers alike.<\/p>\n
“He has continually demonstrated his originality and creative vision that resonates and inspires the action game genre. We are honored to be able to celebrate Mikami-san’s achievements and induct him into our Hall of Fame during our 30th anniversary of the D.I.C.E. Awards.”<\/p>\n
Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda, who will be presenting the award, added: “It was from Mikami-san that I learned how to approach game development, both as a director and as a designer.<\/p>\n
