### Warner Bros. Adjusts 2028 Cinematic Calendar: Delays Hit Gremlins 3 and Dynamic Duo

Warner Bros. is currently recalibrating its long-term theatrical strategy, leading to significant scheduling shifts for two of its most anticipated upcoming projects. As the studio solidifies its 2028 release slate, both the long-awaited return of a cult-classic horror-comedy franchise and a bold new entry in the DC Universe have been pushed back.

#### Gremlins 3: A Longer Wait for the Mischievous Mogwai

The untitled *Gremlins* project-widely referred to by fans as *Gremlins 3*-has been officially rescheduled. Originally slated for a November 2027 debut, the film has been moved back by a full year, with a new premiere date set for October 6, 2028.

To soften the blow of the delay, the studio released a brief, playful teaser. The clip features a familiar, chaotic creature peeking out from a backpack, offering a signature “Uh oh!” that hints at the franchise’s trademark blend of humor and mayhem.

This project is a passion piece for Chris Columbus, who penned the screenplay for the 1984 original and directed family staples like *Home Alone*. Columbus has been actively developing this sequel for more than ten years. Given that the theatrical release is now two years away, audiences should temper their expectations for substantial trailers or plot reveals in the immediate future. By focusing on their early partnership, the studio aims to provide a fresh perspective on the Batman mythos. Readers can learn more about the premise in this report on how DC Studios is making an animated film following the origins of two Robins.

#### Why the Delay?

The scheduling shuffle also impacts the DC Universe. *Dynamic Duo*, the experimental animated feature focusing on the formative years of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, is also seeing its release date shifted.

While Warner Bros. has not provided a specific reason for these shifts, major studios often adjust release windows to avoid market saturation or to allow for additional post-production refinement. In an era where animated features and high-concept sequels face intense competition at the box office-often needing to compete with the massive global reach of franchises like *Spider-Verse* or *Despicable Me*-ensuring these films have the necessary “breathing room” in the calendar is a standard, albeit frustrating, industry practice.
