Amazon MGM Studios has officially pulled back the curtain on the debut teaser for The Man with the Bag, a festive heist flick that blends yuletide cheer with criminal capers. Directed by Adam Shankman-who recently helmed the disaster-comedy Stop! That! Train!-this film promises a fresh, chaotic spin on the traditional Christmas narrative.

A High-Stakes Holiday Heist

The premise is as absurd as it is intriguing: when a disgruntled elf manages to swipe Santa’s legendary sack of gifts, the North Pole’s operations grind to a halt. Desperate to save the holiday, Santa is forced to break protocol and recruit Vance, a reformed criminal plucked straight from the “naughty list.” It’s a classic “odd couple” dynamic, reminiscent of the mismatched energy found in buddy-cop staples like Midnight Run, but set against a backdrop of tinsel and snow.

The Star-Studded Cast

The film boasts an eclectic ensemble cast that bridges the gap between action icons and comedic powerhouses:

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus, bringing a unique, muscular gravitas to the role of St. Nick.

Alan Ritchson as Vance, the ex-thief tasked with the impossible recovery mission.

Awkwafina as the rogue elf mastermind behind the heist.

A supporting lineup featuring Liza Koshy, Ken Jeong, Jane Krakowski, Kyle Mooney, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Berkeley James.

Why This Matters for the 2026 Holiday Season

With the global holiday movie market continuing to expand-often seeing box office returns exceeding $500 million annually for seasonal releases-studios are increasingly looking for “genre-mashups” to stand out. By pivoting from the standard “Santa saves the day” trope to a heist-driven narrative, The Man with the Bag aims to capture both the family demographic and fans of high-energy action. It is a story fundamentally about redemption and the necessity of unlikely alliances, proving that even the most magical figures occasionally require a helping hand from the world’s most unexpected places.

Whether you are looking for a lighthearted escape or a new addition to your annual winter watch-list, this film looks poised to deliver a blend of slapstick humor and genuine holiday spirit. Keep an eye out for more updates as we approach the winter premiere.

» More Info >>>

I’m Santa Claus!” But are you, really?

Amazon MGM Studios just dropped the first teaser for *The Man with the Bag*, a wild new holiday heist comedy that promises to put a criminal twist on your Christmas cheer.
