On October 2, the worlds of cutting-edge electronic soundscapes and profound historical legacy collided in Vietnam. The renowned Greek producer and DJ, ARGY, transformed the grounds of Ho Chi Minh City’s Independence Palace into a vibrant stage for his signature NEWORLD showcase.

This exclusive event served as the sole Southeast Asian destination for the tour. ARGY brought his distinct melodic techno aesthetic to the forefront, supported by a powerhouse lineup that included the legendary Drumcode Records founder Adam Beyer and the soulful vocals of Alex Mills. The production, curated by the team at Dance with ELAN, pushed the boundaries of what a live music experience can look like when placed within a site of national importance.

The production team went beyond a standard concert setup, utilizing the palace’s unique facade as a massive canvas. As highlighted by Vietnam News, the event featured sophisticated 3D projection mapping. This technology allowed the visuals to interact directly with the building’s mid-century modern architecture, creating a seamless blend of digital art and physical history. Similar to how light festivals in Europe revitalize ancient cathedrals, this installation breathed new life into the palace, proving that electronic music can serve as a bridge between generations.

The Independence Palace, frequently referred to as the Reunification Palace, is a site of immense gravity. It remains a primary symbol of the 1975 fall of Saigon, an event that signaled the conclusion of the Vietnam War. By hosting a high-energy electronic music event at such a solemn location, the organizers created a rare juxtaposition between the weight of the past and the forward-looking energy of modern nightlife.

This event highlights a growing trend in the global music industry: the “heritage venue” movement. Much like how artists have begun performing in protected archaeological sites or historic plazas to reach new audiences, the NEWORLD tour utilized this landmark to elevate the concert experience from a simple party to a cultural event. According to coverage by Vietnamese state television VTV, the integration of such a high-profile international act into a protected national monument marks a significant milestone for Vietnam’s burgeoning role in the global electronic music circuit.

Architectural Canvas and Immersive Tech
