The trance community in Southern California is buzzing following a major announcement from electronic music icon Armin van Buuren. During an unannounced, intimate pop-up performance in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, the legendary DJ confirmed that his world-renowned brand, *A State of Trance* (ASOT), will host a massive two-day festival in the city in 2027.

Scheduled for June 11th and 12th, this event represents a significant evolution for the brand. Unlike previous iterations, this will be the first time ASOT launches a full-scale, multi-stage, standalone festival experience on American soil. Beyond the music, attendees can look forward to the “ASOT Hotel” experience, an immersive hospitality concept designed to keep the festival energy alive around the clock.

### A New Chapter for Trance in the United States

While ASOT is no stranger to the U.S. market, this 2027 weekender signals a shift toward a more permanent, large-scale footprint. Historically, the brand has tested the waters with high-profile, single-night showcases, such as the 2022 takeover at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium, the historic 2013 Madison Square Garden event, and the 2019 Oakland production. Furthermore, ASOT has maintained a consistent presence through dedicated stage takeovers at major festivals like Miami’s Ultra Music Festival.

However, the move to a dedicated, multi-day festival format mirrors the growing demand for specialized electronic music experiences. With the global trance market projected to continue its steady growth-bolstered by a resurgence in melodic and progressive sounds-this expansion is perfectly timed to capture a new generation of American listeners.

### From European Roots to Global Phenomenon

To understand the magnitude of this announcement, one must look at the brand’s influence in Europe. In countries like the Netherlands, ASOT has transcended the label of a mere event series to become a cornerstone of electronic dance music culture.

The brand’s flagship festivals, which have historically rotated between the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht and the Ahoy in Rotterdam, serve as a pilgrimage for thousands of fans annually. These events are known for their meticulous production, high-fidelity sound design, and a sense of community that is often described by attendees as unparalleled. By bringing this level of production to Los Angeles, Armin van Buuren is effectively exporting a piece of European dance culture, aiming to replicate that same “religious” fervor for the West Coast audience.
