## Valorant Champions Shanghai: G2 and Vitality Secure Upper Bracket Advancement

The Valorant Champions 2026 tournament in Shanghai has reached a fever pitch, with the upper bracket quarter-finals delivering high-stakes drama. According to recent reports from Insider Gaming, G2 Esports and Team Vitality have successfully navigated their respective matchups, pushing them deeper into the winner’s bracket while forcing their opponents to fight for survival in the lower bracket.

### G2 Esports Dominates 100 Thieves in Tactical Showdown

In a display of tactical superiority, G2 Esports dismantled 100 Thieves with a clean 2-0 sweep. This victory serves as a significant redemption arc for G2, who were looking to settle the score after a previous defeat to 100 Thieves during the VCT Americas Stage 2.

The series kicked off on Abyss, a map choice by 100 Thieves that backfired spectacularly. G2 dictated the tempo from the outset, dismantling their opponents with a decisive 13-5 scoreline. The performance was anchored by Nathan ‘leaf’ Orf, who dominated the server with a 19/11/6 KDA, supported by Trent ‘trent’ Cairns, who contributed a highly efficient 18/9/2 stat line.

The second map, Ascent, proved to be a much grittier affair. While 100 Thieves managed to stabilize and challenge G2’s momentum, the latter displayed remarkable mental fortitude. In a series of high-pressure rounds that tested the composure of both rosters, G2 consistently out-maneuvered their rivals to clinch a 13-11 victory, effectively closing the series.

### Vitality Outlasts Nongshim RedForce

While G2 secured a swift victory, Team Vitality’s path to the next round was far more arduous. Their clash against Nongshim RedForce extended into a grueling three-map series. Much like the intensity seen in recent international VCT events, where the average map duration has trended upward due to increased defensive utility usage, this series pushed both teams to their physical and strategic limits. Vitality’s ability to adapt to Nongshim’s aggressive playstyle ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in their advancement.

### The Road Ahead

With these results, the landscape of the Champions 2026 bracket has shifted significantly. G2 and Vitality now prepare for their next upper bracket challenges, carrying the momentum of these hard-fought wins. Conversely, 100 Thieves and Nongshim RedForce must now regroup in the lower bracket, where a single loss will result in immediate elimination from the tournament. As the competition progresses, the margin for error continues to shrink, making every round critical for the remaining contenders.
