### Blumfest 2026: A New Era of Horror Unveiled at NYCC

The atmosphere at New York Comic Con reached a fever pitch this past Friday evening during “Blumfest.” This 90-minute showcase served as a massive platform for Jason Blum’s Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster to pull back the curtain on their collaborative slate of upcoming genre films.

#### MatPat Joins Forces with Blumhouse for Indie Game Adaptations

The event opened with a major strategic announcement: popular content creator MatPat has officially partnered with Blumhouse to spearhead a series of film adaptations based on indie horror titles. The inaugural project under this new banner will be an adaptation of *[Amanda the Adventurer: The Movie](http://www.ign.com/articles/blumhouse-partners-with-matpat-to-make-amanda-the-adventurer-movie-confirms-more-indie-horror-game-adaptations-are-coming-nycc-2026)*.

This move signals a significant shift in the horror landscape, as major studios increasingly look toward the viral success of indie gaming-a sector that has seen massive growth, with the indie horror market projected to continue its upward trajectory as a primary source for cinematic intellectual property.

#### A Deep Dive into the Blumhouse-Atomic Monster Pipeline

Following the initial reveal, Jason Blum and James Wan took the stage alongside MatPat to provide a comprehensive status report on their shared production pipeline. Flanagan, known for his mastery of psychological tension, emphasized that his primary objective for *Martyrs* was to craft the most terrifying experience of his career. Reflecting on the production process, he shared his confidence in the final product, stating, “This movie is so goddamn scary. I could feel it on set.” With Flanagan at the helm, the franchise is poised to reclaim its status as the gold standard for supernatural horror, tapping into the visceral dread that defined the original 1973 classic.
