## From The Walking Dead to the Baker Estate: Chandler Riggs’ Resident Evil Passion Project

Chandler Riggs, widely recognized for his tenure as Carl Grimes on *The Walking Dead*, has pivoted from zombie-infested Georgia to the claustrophobic horrors of the Baker family plantation. The actor recently unveiled a self-produced fan film that meticulously recreates a pivotal sequence from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, signaling a deep-seated passion for the survival horror genre.

### A Cinematic Tribute to Biohazard ### The Cregger Connection When asked about the proximity of his fan-made project to Cregger’s blockbuster, Riggs revealed that the two endeavors were developing in parallel. “We were in pre-production when the article came out that Zack Cregger was going to do his [movie],” Riggs noted.

### Future Collaborations?

Rather than chasing industry accolades or commercial success, Riggs’ 20-minute short film serves as a love letter to the source material. The project focuses on the intense, high-stakes garage confrontation between protagonist Ethan Winters and the relentless Jack Baker. By translating this specific interactive encounter into a live-action format, Riggs demonstrates a keen understanding of the tension that defines Capcom’s flagship series.

The timing of Riggs’ release is particularly noteworthy, arriving shortly after the theatrical debut of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. Cregger’s vision for the franchise has been a massive cultural and financial phenomenon, recently securing the title of the most financially successful film in the series’ history with a staggering $108 million opening weekend.

Given the critical acclaim surrounding Cregger’s direction and Riggs’ proven ability to capture the visceral horror of the games, the prospect of a collaboration is an exciting one for fans. Riggs has expressed a clear interest in joining forces with Cregger should the opportunity for a sequel or a new entry in the *Resident Evil* cinematic universe arise. For a franchise that has struggled to find its footing on the big screen in the past, the synergy between a seasoned horror actor and a visionary director like Cregger could be the key to future success.
