A Milestone Achievement: Control Resonant Hits One Million Units

Remedy Entertainment has officially announced that Control Resonant has crossed the one-million-unit sales threshold. Achieving this milestone in the wake of its September 24th debut is a significant feat, particularly when considering the title had to compete for consumer attention during one of the most crowded release windows in recent memory. When compared to the original 2019 Control-which took until December 2020 to surpass two million units-the trajectory for this sequel suggests a much more aggressive commercial performance.

Comparing Performance: How It Stacks Up Against Remedy’s Catalog

The success of Control Resonant is even more striking when measured against the studio’s recent history. It has effectively outpaced the initial sales velocity of Alan Wake 2. While Alan Wake 2 set a high bar by reaching one million sales within two months of its October 2023 release, Control Resonant has managed to capture a larger audience in a shorter timeframe. However, industry analysts note that these figures must be viewed through the lens of production costs; Remedy has explicitly positioned this title as its most ambitious and expansive project to date, implying a significantly higher financial investment than its predecessors.

Market Momentum and Critical Reception

The foundation for this commercial success was laid well before the game hit digital storefronts. The title generated immense anticipation, securing over two million wishlists across various platforms. This pre-launch enthusiasm translated directly into player engagement, with the game setting a new internal record for the studio by peaking at nearly 43,000 concurrent players on Steam.

Beyond the raw numbers, the game has resonated with both critics and the gaming community. The title currently holds an 83 Metascore from 83 professional reviews, reflecting a strong consensus on its quality. This critical acclaim serves as a vital driver for long-term sales, suggesting that the game has the legs to maintain its momentum throughout the fiscal year.

Platform Availability and Further Reading

For those looking to dive into the paranatural world of the Federal Bureau of Control, the game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. If you are still on the fence about picking up a copy, you can read our comprehensive 9/10 review to see why it is considered a standout experience.
