A Festive Groundhog Day: Netflix Unveils ‘In a Holidaze’

Netflix is leaning heavily into the seasonal spirit this year, expanding its 2026 holiday catalog with the debut of In a Holidaze. This latest addition joins other festive titles like A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, aiming to capture the cozy, sentimental audience that flocks to streaming platforms as temperatures drop.

The Premise: Reliving the Yuletide

Adapted from the celebrated work of author duo Christina Lauren, the film centers on a young woman navigating the uncertainty of her twenties. After a significant romantic blunder, she finds herself caught in a supernatural cycle: she is forced to repeat the same Christmas holiday at her family’s cabin indefinitely. Much like the classic trope of Palm Springs or Happy Death Day, the protagonist must navigate this temporal glitch to uncover the secrets of her own happiness and break the cycle.

Star-Studded Holiday Cheer

The film features a robust ensemble cast led by Maddie Ziegler. She is joined by a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars, including Graham Phillips, Elias Kacavas, and the comedic powerhouse Patton Oswalt. The supporting cast is rounded out by Jackie Sandler, Andrea Anders, Gil Bellows, Christopher Shyer, Samer Salem, Luke Roessier, Meredith Salenger, and Rob Lowe.

With the holiday streaming market seeing a consistent 15-20% increase in viewership year-over-year, Netflix is clearly betting that this blend of romantic comedy and high-concept fantasy will be a hit. It promises a mix of heartfelt moments, chaotic family dynamics, and the inevitable “do-over” humor that makes time-loop narratives so engaging. Whether she manages to escape the cabin loop or finds that she prefers the repetition, the film looks like a lighthearted, must-watch addition to your holiday watchlist.
