The landscape of the Brazilian League of Legends scene could be set for a major shake-up. Recent reports surfacing on Thursday, October 22, via Sheep Esports, indicate that RED Canids is currently engaged in negotiations with veteran player Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. The potential acquisition is aimed at bolstering their roster for the upcoming 2027 CBLOL season.

While Bwipo has cemented his legacy as a formidable top laner throughout his professional tenure, this prospective move would see him pivot into the jungle role. This transition is not entirely unprecedented; in fact, it marks a return to a position he has navigated before. During his 2021 stint with Fnatic, Bwipo demonstrated his versatility by helping the squad secure a spot in the LEC finals while operating from the jungle.

In the modern era of professional League of Legends, role-swapping has become a hallmark of high-level adaptability. Much like how legendary players have historically shifted from mid-lane to support or jungle to top to extend their careers and provide fresh tactical insights, Bwipo’s potential move reflects a growing trend of veteran players leveraging their macro-game knowledge to influence the map from the jungle position.

The path to this signing remains fluid. Sources suggest that Bwipo’s interest in returning to the jungle is significant, as he reportedly reached out to LOUD earlier in the offseason to propose a similar arrangement. As of now, no official contracts have been finalized, and the organization has yet to confirm an agreement with the player.

With the 2027 season approaching, the CBLOL market is becoming increasingly competitive. If RED Canids successfully secures Bwipo, they would be adding a player with extensive international experience to their lineup-a commodity that has become vital as Brazilian teams look to bridge the gap between domestic dominance and global performance. As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on whether this high-profile negotiation results in a formal roster announcement.

A Role Reimagined: Transitioning to the Jungle
