Recent leaks from the production of Miami Vice ‘85 have ignited excitement across social media, offering a glimpse into the high-stakes world being crafted for the big screen. Captured on location in New York, the latest imagery showcases Michael B. Jordan and John Leguizamo fully immersed in their roles, seemingly breathing new life into the iconic opening beats of the legendary 1984-89 television series.

The production has leaned into a blend of fresh talent and series history. Jordan steps into the shoes of the sharp-witted NYPD detective Ricardo Tubbs, bringing a modern intensity to the character. Meanwhile, John Leguizamo has officially verified via Instagram that he is stepping into the shoes of the formidable Colombian cartel kingpin, Esteban Calderone. This casting choice is particularly poetic; Leguizamo’s own career trajectory was launched by his appearance as Calderone’s son in the original Miami Vice (1984-89) run.

Michael B. Alongside Jordan, Austin Butler is confirmed to portray Sonny Crockett, Tubbs’ eventual partner. The scenes currently being filmed appear to mirror the foundational moments that first introduced audiences to the duo’s dynamic in the original pilot.

It is now widely understood that Miami Vice ‘85 draws its primary narrative DNA from the series’ celebrated two-part pilot, titled “Brother’s Keeper.” By anchoring the film in the gritty, neon-soaked aesthetic of the first season, the production team aims to honor the source material while updating the visual language for a contemporary audience. As the industry continues to see a surge in 80s IP revivals, this project stands out for its commitment to the specific tone that made the original Miami

Social media is buzzing with a first look at the *Miami Vice ’85* set, where Michael B.
