The electronic music landscape is witnessing a bold transformation as OMIKI delivers a high-octane rework of Armin van Buuren’s iconic anthem, “Sunny Days.” Featuring the unmistakable vocal prowess of American singer-songwriter Josh Cumbee, the track has transitioned from a radio-friendly hit into a dark, driving club weapon. Before its official arrival, the remix had already become a staple in Armin van Buuren’s festival performances, consistently igniting crowds with its newfound intensity.

OMIKI has solidified his status as a pioneer in blending the rhythmic complexity of psytrance with the atmospheric depth of melodic techno. His innovative reputation is well-earned, bolstered by recent successes such as the hypnotic “RITMO,” a collaboration featuring Argy and Son of Son, as well as the powerful “WIND” alongside Argy. By applying this distinct sonic signature to “Sunny Days,” OMIKI successfully pivots the track toward a heavier, late-night aesthetic while preserving the emotional resonance of the original vocal performance.

The reception for this remix has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighted by its selection as the Tune of the Week on *A State of Trance* (ASOT Episode 1299), where it already got love from listeners worldwide.

While the original 2017 release via Armada Records leaned into a sun-drenched, pop-infused sound-notably utilizing acoustic guitar layers to complement Cumbee’s soulful delivery-OMIKI’s version opts for a more aggressive approach. He replaces the breezy instrumentation with a robust, driving bassline, intricate tribal percussion, and a signature psychedelic drop that demands movement.

It is fascinating to see how a track that debuted on June 16, 2017, can be completely revitalized for the modern dance floor. While the original remains a nostalgic favorite for its organic, singer-songwriter charm, OMIKI’s interpretation proves that the core melody and vocal hook are versatile enough to thrive in the high-BPM world of modern psytrance. This remix serves as a masterclass in genre-blending, proving that even the most polished pop-dance records can be reimagined with a darker, more experimental edge.

A Signature Sound Evolution
