The vibrant electronic music scene in Madrid faced a somber reality this past weekend. Following a devastating high-speed train derailment on Wednesday that resulted in 69 fatalities, organizers for the highly anticipated Brunch Electronik and Elrow Halloween Takeover were compelled to call off their Saturday, October 31st event at Espacio Iberdrola Music.

In response to the tragedy, the Community of Madrid mandated a three-day period of official mourning. This government-led directive necessitated the immediate cessation of large-scale public celebrations, leaving the production teams behind Brunch Electronik and Elrow with no choice but to scrap the Halloween festivities. In a formal statement released across their social media channels, the organizers expressed their deepest sympathies to the victims’ families and extended their appreciation to the artists, staff, and ticket holders who were impacted by this sudden change of plans.

For those who had secured their spot for the event, the organizers have confirmed that all ticket purchases will be automatically processed for a full refund. Patrons can expect these funds to return to their original payment methods within five business days. The ambitious production design featured a massive three-stage layout, promising a 12-hour immersive experience. The event was slated to showcase the “Industry City” stage-a concept synonymous with the Monegros Desert Festival-alongside Elrow’s signature “Dance with the Serpent” aesthetic. By bringing this level of high-octane, Ibiza-style production to the capital, the organizers hoped to set a new benchmark for local electronic music events.

The curation for the night was designed to provide a comprehensive journey through the spectrum of electronic music, ranging from deep house grooves to high-energy techno and more aggressive, experimental frequencies. The lineup was carefully selected to provide the perfect soundtrack for All Hallows’ Eve, featuring a diverse roster of talent including Anxhela, among others.

A Vision of Scale: What Was Planned for the Takeover
