# Seven Stars Festival Pauses Operations Amid Venue Re-evaluation

Following two successful years of bringing electronic music fans to Virginia, GRiZ has officially announced that his curated event, the Seven Stars Festival, will be entering a period of hiatus. While the festival quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the artist’s return to the live performance circuit, the production team is now shifting its focus toward securing a new location for future iterations.

## A Strategic Pivot for the Festival’s Future

Since its inception in 2025, the GRiZ-led project has drawn thousands of attendees to the scenic Oak Ridge Farm. However, despite the positive reception of the 2025 and 2026 editions, the festival will not be returning to that specific site. The organizers have confirmed that the search for a new home is currently the primary objective, ensuring that the event’s future aligns with the values of its community.

## Addressing the History of Oak Ridge Farm

The decision to step away from the Oak Ridge property stems from a deeper understanding of the land’s historical background. According to recent disclosures, the festival team only became aware of the full scope of the estate’s past shortly before the public announcement.

Historical documentation reveals that the property held 124 enslaved individuals during the 19th century. Furthermore, the estate was once owned by William Porcher Miles, a prominent Confederate politician who played a significant role in the creation of the Confederate battle flag. In light of these findings, the festival organizers have chosen to distance the brand from the location, prioritizing ethical considerations over the convenience of an established venue.

This move reflects a growing trend in the live events industry, where organizers are increasingly performing “due diligence” regarding the cultural and historical context of their venues. Much like how major corporations now audit their supply chains for ethical compliance, festival promoters are beginning to vet land history to ensure their gatherings foster inclusive and respectful environments for all attendees.
