In a landmark moment for the Latin American VALORANT scene, KRÜ Blaze has etched its name into the history books by securing the 2026 Game Changers Championship. The squad triumphed over Europe’s Gentle Mates GC in a grueling five-map series at the Riot Games Arena in São Paulo on November 1, marking the first time a LATAM organization has claimed the global trophy.

This victory is particularly significant as it serves as the final chapter for the standalone Game Changers Championship format. Moving forward, Riot Games has confirmed that the grand finale will be integrated into the prestigious Champions event, making KRÜ Blaze the last team to hoist the trophy in this specific iteration of the tournament.

KRÜ Blaze’s path to the title was anything but conventional. After suffering a setback in the upper-bracket semi-finals, the team was forced to navigate the treacherous lower bracket-a feat that no previous champion had ever accomplished. Their resilience was on full display as they dismantled opponents to reach the Grand Final, ultimately snapping Gentle Mates GC’s undefeated streak in a high-stakes 3-2 showdown.

The tournament, which kicked off on October 22, featured a competitive field of 10 elite international rosters. The financial rewards reflected the high level of play, with Gentle Mates GC walking away with a $100,000 runner-up prize. Meanwhile, Shopify Rebellion Gold secured the third-place spot, earning $70,000, and MIBR GC rounded out the top four with a $50,000 payout.

The foundation for this championship run was laid early in the tournament. KRÜ Blaze signaled their intent on October 23, when they dispatched Gen.G GC with a 2-1 victory in the upper-bracket quarter-finals. Despite the later stumble that sent them to the lower bracket, the team’s ability to adapt their tactical approach under pressure proved to be the deciding factor in São Paulo.

As the competitive landscape of VALORANT continues to evolve, the success of KRÜ Blaze highlights the narrowing skill gap between regions. With the transition to the Champions stage next year, the pressure to perform will only intensify, but for now, the spotlight remains firmly on the team that defied the odds to bring the title home to Latin America.
