### The Challenge of Immense Lore

To put the scale into perspective, the *Warhammer 40,000* universe is arguably one of the most expansive in fiction. Beyond the core tabletop game that has captivated players since 1987, the franchise boasts a library of over 700 novels. This depth is a double-edged sword; while it offers endless narrative potential, it can be incredibly daunting for newcomers.

“Henry Cavill would be furious if I divulged anything about what we’re working on,” Flanagan joked during the interview. He emphasized that the team is hyper-aware of the franchise’s massive footprint, stating, “The challenge, as anyone familiar with it knows, is finding a way in – it’s so big.”

### Crafting an Accessible Gateway

Despite the daunting nature of the source material, Flanagan’s commitment to the project remains steadfast. By focusing on an “unexpected” on-ramp, the production aims to bridge the gap between hardcore tabletop enthusiasts and casual viewers who may be unfamiliar with the grim darkness of the far future.

As the industry watches closely, the collaboration between Flanagan and Cavill-a well-known superfan of the series-continues to be one of the most exciting prospects in genre television. The goal is to distill the essence of the 41st millennium into a narrative that feels both authentic to the source and fresh for a global audience.
