He joined The Verge in 2019 after nearly two years at Techmeme.<\/p>\n Following this week\u2019s midterms where voters resoundingly voiced their opposition to data center expansion<\/a>, OpenAI today announced new commitments<\/a> to communities where it is working on data center projects, including that it won\u2019t use non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with public officials.<\/p>\n Many data center projects have come under scrutiny for relying on NDAs to hide discussions<\/a> between developers and local officials. However, OpenAI says it is now allowing \u201conly narrow protections covering legitimate security information, trade secrets, or proprietary or competitively sensitive information.\u201d In October, Amazon announced it would<\/a> no longer use NDAs with government agencies it works with on data center projects.<\/p>\n
