Get Ready to Scavenge: Drifters: Blackout Crew Launches PC VR Demo
The highly anticipated cooperative extraction shooter, Drifters: Blackout Crew, has officially released its PC VR demo. This launch serves as a strategic precursor to the upcoming Steam Next Fest, offering players a chance to dive into the action before the event kicks off.
A High-Stakes Mission for Survival
Developed by the team at Salmi Games-the creative force behind the acclaimed Sweet Surrender-this title shifts the focus toward intense PvE (Player vs. Environment) gameplay. The core loop tasks you and your squad with infiltrating hostile, alien environments. Your primary objective is to secure vital resources necessary to sustain your failing mothership, all while scavenging parts to customize and enhance your arsenal of gear.
Iterative Development and Community Feedback
Salmi Games has been remarkably transparent throughout the development cycle. By hosting frequent playtests over the past several months, the studio has successfully refined the game’s technical performance and expanded its feature set. Recent updates, as highlighted on their YouTube channel, showcase a complete rework of the weapon mechanics. With the addition of high-impact tools like the new flamethrower, the combat promises a much more visceral experience than previous iterations.
Building Momentum
Since its initial unveiling during the VR Games Showcase this past June, Drifters: Blackout Crew has steadily built a reputation as a standout title in the VR extraction genre. As the industry sees a growing trend in cooperative VR experiences-with recent market data suggesting that co-op shooters are among the most requested genres for standalone and PC VR headsets-this demo arrives at the perfect time to capture player interest.
