Steam Next Fest: The Top 20 Trending Demos You Need to Play Before Time Runs Out
The latest iteration of Steam Next Fest is currently in full swing, offering players a massive digital playground of upcoming titles. As the event barrels toward its conclusion on Monday, October 26, at 10 am PT/1 pm ET, Valve has pulled back the curtain on which projects are capturing the most attention from the gaming community. With thousands of titles vying for visibility, these 20 demos have managed to rise to the top, showcasing a diverse range of genres-from chaotic multiplayer party games to intricate survival simulations.
What’s Driving the Hype?
The current list of trending demos highlights a fascinating shift in player interest. While high-fidelity action games remain a staple, there is a clear surge in demand for “cozy” social experiences and quirky, physics-based humor titles. This trend mirrors broader industry data, where indie games with unique social hooks-like Fart Together or Character House-are seeing higher engagement rates than traditional, linear demos. Whether you are looking for a deep, mechanical challenge or a lighthearted way to spend an evening with friends, this list serves as a curated snapshot of the most anticipated indie gems currently in development.

Part of the magic of Steam Next Fest is the element of discovery. You might find your next favorite obsession among these trending titles, or you might stumble upon a hidden gem that didn’t quite make the top 20. However, because these demos are time-sensitive, it is highly recommended that you download and test your favorites immediately. Once the clock strikes 10 am PT on October 26, these trial versions will be pulled from the storefront, making this your final window to experience these prototypes firsthand.
