Gamecity Hamburg has launched the second round of its prototype funding program.
The initiative allows startups and small to medium-sized enterprises to apply for up to €80,000 in non-repayable funding to develop digital video games.
The local fund is only open to developers and development communities based in Hamburg (or who plan to relocate their headquarters or open a branch in the region).
A mandatory consultation with Gamecity Hamburg must be completed before the submission deadline on September 24, 2026, to ensure applicants are prepared for the process.
Applications will also need to provide a short project outline and information on whether generative AI will be used. A financial contribution of at least 20 percent of the eligible development costs is also expected and must be budgeted for.
In an FAQ on the Gamecity Hamburg website, the organization stressed that applications should already have a “marketable prototype.”
