Frontier Developments Secures Licensing Deal for Upcoming Disney Simulation Title
The Cambridge-based gaming powerhouse, Frontier Developments, has officially confirmed a strategic partnership with Disney to produce a brand-new video game. By leveraging its deep-rooted expertise in the creative management simulation (CMS) sector, the studio will take full responsibility for the project’s funding, development, and global publishing efforts.
A Proven Track Record in Simulation Gaming
Frontier Developments has cemented its reputation as a leader in the simulation space through highly successful titles such as Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, and the Jurassic World Evolution series. This new venture with Disney aligns perfectly with the studio’s long-term roadmap, which focuses on cultivating high-quality, immersive management experiences. Beyond this new collaboration, the team is also currently working on an unannounced project within its own proprietary Planet franchise.
Strategic Vision and Creative Synergy
Jo Cooke, CEO of Frontier Developments, expressed enthusiasm regarding the partnership, noting that the deal is a cornerstone of the company’s broader strategy to nurture world-class simulation IPs. “Our goal is to bridge the gap between a highly engaged community of creative players and one of the most cherished brands on the planet,” Cooke stated. “I am eager to witness the innovation our teams will bring to this iconic intellectual property.”
Financial Momentum and Market Growth
This announcement arrives at a period of significant financial strength for the studio. In its most recent fiscal report, Frontier Developments showcased impressive growth, with annual revenues climbing 16% to reach £104.8 million. Furthermore, the company achieved an operating profit of £19 million-a 44% increase compared to the previous year-shattering its prior record of £15.9 million set in FY29. This robust financial health provides a stable foundation for the studio to invest heavily in the development of this high-profile Disney title.
As the gaming industry continues to see a surge in demand for “cozy” and management-style games, this partnership positions Frontier to capture a massive audience by blending their signature simulation mechanics with the global reach of Disney’s storytelling.
