# Swedish House Mafia Secures Fourth Billboard Dance Airplay Chart-Topper with “Happiness Is So Sad”
The electronic music landscape is constantly shifting, yet Swedish House Mafia continues to prove their enduring relevance. Their latest collaboration with Lykke Li, “Happiness Is So Sad,” has officially ascended to the top spot on the Billboard Dance Airplay chart, marking a significant milestone for the legendary trio.
## A Melancholic Masterpiece
Released this past July, “Happiness Is So Sad” represents a departure from the high-octane festival anthems typically associated with the group. Instead, the track leans into a somber, introspective atmosphere, anchored by haunting piano melodies and Lykke Li’s evocative vocal performance.
The production quality is bolstered by a powerhouse team of Swedish collaborators, including industry titans Max Martin and Oscar Holter, alongside the innovative Fred again.. and the production duo PARISI. This synergy of talent has resulted in a track that resonates deeply with listeners, proving that dance music can be just as impactful when it explores the complexities of human emotion.
## From Ibiza Stages to Chart Dominance
The journey of “Happiness Is So Sad” to the summit of the charts was a calculated build-up. The trio strategically road-tested the record during their high-profile residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, followed by a massive showcase at Tomorrowland. These live performances served as a litmus test, allowing the group to gauge audience reaction before the official drop.
The strategy paid off handsomely. Within three months of its debut, the track’s momentum propelled it to the No. 1 position on the Billboard Dance Airplay chart, cementing its status as a commercial success.
## Building a Legacy on the Billboard Charts
This achievement is far from an anomaly for the Swedish icons. “Happiness Is So Sad” joins an elite roster of their previous chart-topping hits, including:
* “Save the World”
* “Don’t You Worry Child” (featuring John Martin)
* “Wait So Long”
With this fourth No. 1, Swedish House Mafia reinforces their position as architects of the modern dance sound. As the industry continues to evolve, their ability to balance emotional depth with radio-friendly production remains their greatest asset.
