Santa Monica Studios has just delayed God of War Laufey.
They shared this statement on Twitter:
Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen. We don’t take for granted the trust placed in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans.
With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20th, 2027.
This move means that God of War Laufey will be avoiding a competitive February, packed with games like Fable and Metro 2039, unless some of those games get delayed too, of course.
Following criticisms of God of War Laufey’s reveal trailer and special editions that lack a disc game, Santa Monica faces added pressure to deliver on a game that will make fans happy. We wouldn’t be surprised if some characters look different, or perhaps appear less often, if they’re taking this much time to polish the game.
