Corona’s legendary The Rhythm of the Night celebrates 33 years since its original 1993 release and its rise to becoming a Eurodance classic
Few dance records from the early 1990s have stayed as closely tied to the era as Corona’s The Rhythm of the Night. Released in Italy on November 5, 1993, the track introduced Corona to audiences far beyond the Italian dance music scene and soon became one of Eurodance’s most recognisable records. Behind it was producer Francesco Bontempi, better known as Lee Marrow, with Jenny B providing the original vocal while Olga de Souza became the public face of the project. Its success eventually stretched from an eight-week run at No. 1 in Italy to major chart positions across Europe and the United States. Thirty-three years later, The Rhythm of the Night still carries a history that goes well beyond the chorus most people know.
The Voice Behind The Rhythm of the Night
Although Olga de Souza became the public face of Corona, the vocal on the original recording came from Giovanna Bersola, better known as Jenny B. Lee Marrow created the track during a period when the European dance music scene was producing some of the decade’s most successful club records.
