Also’s TM-B E-Bike Finally Hits the Road Following Supply Chain Hurdles
After a series of setbacks caused by persistent global supply chain disruptions, Also-the electric bike venture born from Rivian-is officially moving into the delivery phase. The company confirmed that the highly anticipated Launch Edition of its TM-B e-bike is currently in transit from production facilities to its domestic distribution centers. Customers who secured a pre-order can expect their units to arrive in waves, with the full rollout of the Launch Edition scheduled for completion by the end of September.
From Rivian Skunkworks to Independent Startup
The journey of the TM-B began in 2022 as an internal innovation project at Rivian. CEO RJ Scaringe envisioned a premium two-wheeled vehicle that would serve as a natural extension of the brand’s adventure-focused electric truck and SUV lineup. To ensure the product met a high aesthetic and functional standard, the team collaborated with LoveFrom, the renowned design firm founded by Jony Ive. This partnership, which surfaced in early 2025, underscored the company’s commitment to blending high-end industrial design with rugged utility.
Navigating the Path to Market
The transition from a corporate project to a standalone entity occurred in March 2025, bolstered by a significant $105 million investment led by Eclipse. Following this independence, the startup unveiled the TM-B in October 2025. While the initial roadmap aimed for a spring 2026 launch, the company encountered logistical bottlenecks that forced a postponement to July.
Industry analysts note that the e-bike sector has faced similar headwinds recently. According to recent market data, the global e-bike market is projected to reach a valuation of over $120 billion by 2030, yet manufacturers continue to grapple with the “just-in-time” manufacturing model that leaves little room for error when component shortages occur. For a premium product like the $4,500 TM-B, maintaining quality control while managing these external pressures has been a critical challenge for the startup.
Looking Ahead
By prioritizing a phased delivery schedule, Also aims to ensure that each unit meets the rigorous standards expected of a premium electric vehicle brand. As the company moves past these initial manufacturing delays, the focus will shift toward scaling operations and establishing its footprint in the competitive personal mobility market. With the first units reaching doorsteps next week, the brand is finally ready to prove that its design-forward approach can withstand the rigors of the real world.
