Redmi 17C 5G Debuts in India: Pricing, Specs, and Availability
Xiaomi’s sub-brand has officially expanded the reach of its latest budget-friendly powerhouse. Following its initial international rollout back in August, the Redmi 17C 5G has officially touched down in the Indian market. This Redmi initially launched device is positioned to capture the entry-to-mid-range segment, offering a balance of endurance and connectivity.
Pricing and Configuration Options
Prospective buyers in India can mark their calendars for October 7, when the device hits retail shelves. The pricing structure is tiered based on memory capacity, though both models come equipped with 128GB of internal storage:
* 4GB RAM variant: Priced at INR 20,999 (approximately $218).
* 6GB RAM variant: Priced at INR 22,999 (approximately $238).
Performance and Hardware Highlights
At the heart of the Redmi 17C 5G lies the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This processor is designed to handle daily multitasking and light gaming efficiently, keeping the device relevant in an era where 5G adoption is rapidly growing-recent industry reports suggest that 5G smartphone shipments in India now account for over 75% of the total market share, making this a timely release.
The device features a expansive 6.9-inch LCD panel. While the resolution sits at 720×1600, the inclusion of a 120Hz refresh rate ensures that scrolling and UI animations remain fluid, providing a premium feel despite the budget-oriented price point.
Battery Life and Camera Capabilities
One of the standout features of the 17C 5G is its massive 6,000 mAh battery. In a market where users prioritize longevity, this capacity is a significant selling point, comfortably outlasting many competitors that typically stick to 5,000 mAh cells. To minimize downtime, the phone supports 33W fast charging.
For photography enthusiasts, the rear houses a 50MP primary sensor, capable of capturing sharp images in well-lit conditions. Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP front-facing camera.
Design and Connectivity
The Redmi 17C 5G doesn’t skimp on utility. It retains the increasingly rare 3.5mm headphone jack, catering to users who prefer wired audio. Security is managed via a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated directly into the power button for quick, ergonomic access.
The handset is available in three distinct finishes:
* Coffee Brew
* Purple Dawn
* Dark Night
