A Massive LEGO Tribute to Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters
The worlds of streaming entertainment and brick-based construction have collided in spectacular fashion. LEGO designer Björn Ramant has unveiled a colossal, life-sized recreation of the “Derpy Tiger” from the popular Netflix animated series, Kpop Demon Hunters. This ambitious project serves as a testament to the growing synergy between global media franchises and the iconic toy brand.
Engineering a 37,000-Piece Masterpiece
Ramant, who documented the creative journey on his LinkedIn and Instagram profiles, spent approximately ten weeks of intermittent labor bringing the creature to life. The sheer scale of the project is staggering; the final sculpture incorporates nearly 37,000 individual plastic bricks. To put that volume into perspective, it is roughly equivalent to building over 70 standard-sized LEGO Creator sets simultaneously.
The construction process was a feat of structural engineering. As seen in his 90-second timelapse video, Ramant began the assembly at the tail, utilizing a robust internal framework of four steel rods to ensure the massive figure could support its own weight. While the exact height remains undisclosed, visual comparisons suggest the tiger stands nearly as tall as the designer himself, making it a dominant presence in any room.
Where to Experience the Magic
For fans eager to see the craftsmanship firsthand, the Derpy Tiger is currently being showcased at the prestigious LEGO World 2026 event. This collaboration, commissioned directly by the LEGO Group and Netflix, highlights the increasing trend of “experiential marketing,” where brands use large-scale physical installations to deepen fan engagement with digital content.
If you aren’t able to visit the exhibition in person, you can still bring a piece of the action home. While the giant sculpture is a one-of-a-kind commission, LEGO has released a consumer-friendly, retail version of the Kpop Demon Hunters set, which is currently available for purchase on Amazon. This allows collectors to own a scaled-down version of the series’ iconic aesthetic without needing the thousands of bricks required for Ramant’s professional-grade build.
