Celebrating One Year of Dispatch: A Milestone for AdHoc Studio
It has been exactly 365 days since the debut of the inaugural episode of Dispatch, a title that emerged as the most unexpected gaming phenomenon of 2025. The project’s trajectory has been nothing short of stellar; as early as last November, AdHoc Studio reported that the game had already surpassed its three-year revenue projections within its first quarter on the market.
A Global Phenomenon
The reach of Dispatch has expanded significantly, with the player base now exceeding 5 million active users worldwide. To commemorate this first-year milestone, the development team has curated a series of special events and releases:
* Enhanced Gameplay: The deluxe edition is receiving a comprehensive update, featuring an immersive storyboard mode and developer commentary.
* Physical Collectibles: In collaboration with Lost in Cult, the studio is producing a premium vinyl soundtrack collection alongside a dedicated art book.
* Live Experience: Fans can look forward to a live concert event scheduled for December 3 in Los Angeles.
* Mobile Expansion: The title is set to reach a broader audience with its official mobile launch on December 9.
Behind the Scenes: The Reality of Development
While the current success is undeniable, the journey to launch was fraught with intense pressure. AdHoc Studio CEO and co-founder Michael Choung reflects on the release window as a time of extreme volatility. Rather than the smooth, rhythmic rollout the team had envisioned, the production cycle for the game’s eight episodes remained a high-stakes race against the clock until the very final second.
“We had this vision of a relaxed, steady cadence for our weekly releases, but the reality was entirely different,” Choung shared in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. The sheer intensity of the development process serves as a testament to the team’s resilience in delivering a polished experience under grueling conditions.
