Fans were shocked to hear what happened following Hannah Laings performance at the Isle of Summer festival in Munich this past weekend.

According to Laing, the ordeal began shortly after she stepped off stage on Saturday. While heading to a portable toilet with her cousin, the pair were intercepted by four undercover police officers. The DJ claims they were marched through the festival grounds in front of fans and ravers—a situation she described as “seriously humiliating.”

The authorities reportedly detained the two women under suspicion of drug use, citing a German policy posted only in German that prohibits more than one person from entering a toilet cubicle at a time. She claimed that with the long lines to use the bathrooms, this is a common practice.

The situation escalated when Laing and her cousin were taken to a private tent and subjected to an invasive strip search by female officers.

“I felt extremely degraded and embarrassed,” Laing shared on Instagram. “They found nothing because we weren’t taking drugs.”

Laing emphasized that while she understands the necessity of strict drug policies at music festivals, the response felt “disproportionate.” She noted that the sign on the Portaloos stated that sharing a booth would result in being banned or removed from the event, but made no mention of intimate searches.

Despite the traumatic experience, Hannah was quick to clarify that the festival organizers themselves were not at fault. She is receiving support from the community online, and she is quick to respond to negativity via Instagram.

Isle of Summer was requested for comment via another publication, but as of this publication, they have not released an official statement regarding the police conduct.
