Barkin is back. His 3rd releaseof the year, ‘Big 4’ represents his dual identity. By day, he operates inside a Big 4 accounting firm; by night, he channels obsession, rhythm, and the pulse of the Big 4 beat. This track lives in between spreadsheets and strobe lights, where ambition meets obsession and routine meets rebellion.
The track kicks off with a sultry and inviting female vocal. As tension and pace rise, we are thrown into the ‘Big 4’ drop Barkin lives day and night for. A huge, gritty synth takes center stage in the drop with a unique texture our ears crave. Your body and feet will be moving to the beat. ‘Big 4’ lives in between the Tech and Bass House worlds. The New York-based DJ had this to say about the track:
“I had the idea for this track 3 years ago. I always wanted to merge the 2 different sides of my life that, funny enough, share the same name. I am thrilled with the way it turned out, and it’s one of my favorite tracks to play live (or while at work).”
The track wastes no time establishing its identity. Tight percussion, bouncy bassline, and vocals that flirt with boardroom satire create an atmosphere that feels equally suited for a warehouse rave or a 2 AM Excel marathon. It captures the growing wave of young professionals who spend weekdays inside corporate structures while chasing creative freedom after hours. That tension gives the track personality beyond the dancefloor.
Barkin has an upcoming show at High Tide Music Festival. Make sure to check out ‘Big 4’ below!
