It has been a devastating weekend for the harder styles community. Due to an unprecedented Code Red weather warning issued across the Netherlands, Q-dance was forced to pull the plug and officially cancel Defqon.1 2026 for the remainder of the weekend, effective Friday, June 26th.

The news left tens of thousands of Weekend Warriors heartbroken, staring at an empty RED mainstage that would never see its full glory.

However, a glimmer of hope sparked across social media on Saturday. Posts surfaced from an onlooker near the Walibi Holland grounds asking if pyrotechnics, lights, and lasers being fired are for an end-of-show recording. Did Q-dance actually fire up the mother of all stages to record the legendary Saturday Endshow behind closed doors?

What Actually Happened on Saturday Night?

According to reports leaking out of the festival grounds from crew members and local residents, pyrotechnics were indeed fired, and the sky over Biddinghuizen briefly lit up with lasers on Saturday evening.

Over on the r/hardstyle subreddit, fans confirmed that a special presentation took place, but it wasn’t the massive, consumer-ready Endshow video we are used to. Instead, Q-dance project manager Jonas took to the stage microphone to deliver an emotional speech to the hundreds of crew members, build teams, and partners left stranded on the empty site.

During the speech, Jonas called for “start the little show,” triggering a scaled-down, private light-and-pyro display as a massive thank-you to the workers who spent months constructing the beautiful, unused festival city.

“Dear crew, dear partners, I’m glad we can do this together… together, we are one incredible organism.”

While fans have their fingers crossed that Q-dance filmed the full, planned Saturday Endshow sequence to release as a digital exclusive for members, the weekend’s production was severely hindered by the emergency weather response.

The audio and visual cues witnessed on Saturday night appear to have been specifically tailored for the crew’s private moment rather than a full broadcast production. However, knowing Q-dance’s track record for cinematic media capture, “hopium” remains high that some form of high-definition tribute package or a “What Could Have Been” show reel will make its way to YouTube in the coming weeks.

One thing is certain: the spirit of the tribe remains unbroken. As one fan poignantly put it online: “We will come back stronger than ever next year.”
