Vertigo Releasing has officially dropped the promotional trailer for The Soccer Agent-a gritty indie film that originally debuted under the title One Last Deal. While international audiences might recognize the project as The Football Agent, the film is now making its way to North American screens. Following its initial festival run at the Dublin Film Festival and a successful UK theatrical release this past March, the film is preparing for a digital debut in the United States this autumn.
The Pressure Cooker Concept
The film functions as a claustrophobic, single-location character study. The narrative is confined almost entirely to the office of Jimmy Banks, portrayed by the charismatic Danny Dyer. Alongside Elliott Rogers, who plays his high-profile client Matt Gravish, the story explores the frantic, high-pressure world of professional sports management. Much like the tension found in films such as Locke or Buried, the drama relies heavily on dialogue and the psychological unraveling of its lead character as he attempts to finalize a career-defining contract.

Interestingly, the film’s US release strategy has raised some eyebrows. By opting for a direct-to-VOD rollout this fall, the distributors have bypassed the massive global marketing momentum that surrounded this summer’s World Cup. Despite missing that peak window of soccer-related interest, the film’s intense, performance-driven nature suggests it is aiming to capture an audience interested in character-focused suspense rather than just sports fans.
