The Valor Pack: A Tribute to Kyle Carpenter
Scheduled to debut on October 23, the “Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack” offers players a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a genuine American hero. The pack features Kyle Carpenter, a recipient of the Medal of Honor, as a playable character within the game.
Carpenter’s story is one of profound selflessness. While serving in Marjah, Afghanistan, on November 21, 2010, he made the ultimate split-second decision to shield a fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio, from a live grenade blast. The explosion resulted in catastrophic injuries for Carpenter, including the loss of an eye, the destruction of his teeth, and a five-week period of unconsciousness. His recovery was a grueling, long-term process, yet his spirit remained unbroken.
In 2014, President Barack Obama formally presented Carpenter with the Medal of Honor. Reflecting on his journey and the resilience required to overcome such trauma, Carpenter famously noted, “No matter how wrecked your world gets, the world keeps spinning.”
