Apple Imposes Purchase Caps on Upcoming iPhone Duo Launch
For tech enthusiasts planning to bulk-buy the highly anticipated iPhone Duo this Friday, Apple has officially implemented a restrictive policy. To ensure broader availability during the initial rollout, the company is capping individual orders at just two units per customer.
Understanding the New Order Restrictions
Recent findings, initially highlighted by MacRumors, confirm that the Apple Store’s digital checkout system is programmed to enforce this threshold. Attempting to exceed the limit triggers an automated notification: “A maximum of 2 iPhone Duo can be purchased per customer. Please adjust the total quantity of iPhone Duo in your order before checking out.”
This strategy is a common tactic used by major hardware manufacturers to mitigate the impact of scalpers and ensure that genuine consumers have a fair chance at securing the latest technology on day one. By preventing bulk hoarding, Apple aims to maintain a more stable supply chain during the critical first week of sales.
What to Expect at Retail Locations
While the digital storefront has already integrated these safeguards, it is widely expected that the same “two-device” rule will be strictly enforced at physical Apple Store locations when the device hits shelves this Friday. Much like the launch of the original iPhone or the high-demand Vision Pro, store managers will likely monitor inventory closely to prevent any single buyer from depleting local stock.
Industry analysts suggest that such limitations are standard practice for high-profile product debuts. For instance, similar quantity caps were seen during the initial release of the PlayStation 5 and various high-end GPU launches, where demand significantly outpaced manufacturing capacity. If you are planning to visit a store in person, be prepared for these constraints to be in full effect.
