Exodus Evolves: Archetype Entertainment Refines Protagonist Design Amid Industry Shifts
The landscape of narrative-driven science fiction gaming is undergoing a significant transformation. Following the recent industry news regarding the closure of BioWare and the subsequent cancellation of Mass Effect 5, the spotlight has shifted toward Exodus. This ambitious RPG is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by industry veterans Chad Robertson, James Ohlen, and Drew Karpyshyn-all of whom bring deep experience from their time at BioWare.
Responding to Community Voices: The Redesign of Jun Aslan
Archetype Entertainment is proving that it values player input as much as its creative vision. The studio recently unveiled a substantial visual update for the male version of the game’s protagonist, Jun Aslan. When the title was first showcased to media outlets like GameSpot in late August, the character featured a distinct bone structure and a rugged, five-o’clock shadow. However, the latest update reveals a completely overhauled aesthetic.
In a recent video update posted to the official Archetype YouTube channel, General Manager Chad Robertson introduced the refined character model. He emphasized that this change was a direct response to the discourse within the gaming community.
“We have been closely monitoring the discussions and feedback regarding our male Jun character model over the past few months,” Robertson stated. “We take this input to heart. Our team has been continuously iterating on Jun’s design as we push forward with the broader development of the game.”
What’s Next for the Exodus Protagonist?
While the male iteration of Jun Aslan has received this significant polish, the community is still eagerly awaiting the first look at the female protagonist. Archetype has confirmed that a reveal for the female version of Jun is currently in the works, acknowledging the high level of anticipation surrounding her design.
The studio recently teased this upcoming reveal on their official website, posing the question: “Is FemJun on your mind?” This direct engagement suggests that Archetype is committed to maintaining a transparent dialogue with its player base as they build what many hope will be the spiritual successor to the space-faring epics of the past decade.
