Expanding Horizons: Alaska Airlines Launches Direct Seattle-to-Europe Routes
Alaska Airlines is significantly broadening its international footprint by introducing fresh, nonstop flights departing from Seattle to two iconic European destinations: Athens and Paris.
A Strategic Response to Traveler Demand
The decision to launch these routes follows extensive feedback from the airline’s loyalty program members, who have consistently identified these European hubs as top-tier travel priorities. By bridging the Pacific Northwest with these historic cities, the carrier is directly addressing the growing appetite for long-haul international travel among its core customer base.
Pioneering the Seattle-to-Athens Corridor
In a landmark move for the aviation industry, Alaska Airlines is set to become the inaugural carrier to provide direct service between Seattle and the Greek capital. Scheduled to commence on May 12, 2027, this seasonal offering will operate on a thrice-weekly basis. This route is particularly noteworthy as it marks the longest flight path in the airline’s history and currently stands as the only nonstop connection between the U.S. West Coast and Athens.

Paris Service and Booking Details
Following the launch of the Greek route, the airline will inaugurate its service to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on May 25, 2027. This connection will feature a more frequent schedule, with five flights per week running through the autumn season.
Travelers looking to secure their seats can book flights to Athens International Airport (ATH) and CDG starting immediately. To celebrate the launch, the airline is offering promotional roundtrip fares in the Main Cabin beginning at $999. This introductory pricing is available for U.S.-based bookings finalized by August 26.
Commitment to Passenger Preferences
Reflecting on the expansion, CEO Ben Minicucci emphasized the airline’s dedication to aligning its network with passenger desires. “We prioritize flying to the destinations our guests dream of visiting, and both Athens and Paris have remained at the pinnacle of that list for quite some time,” Minicucci noted.
As international travel continues to rebound-with global tourism numbers nearing pre-pandemic levels-this expansion positions Alaska Airlines to capture a larger share of the premium leisure market, providing a seamless bridge for travelers seeking to explore the cultural richness of Europe.
