During a recent milestone celebration in Altay-marking the delivery of the 10,000th Da Tang SUV-BYD pulled back the curtain on its latest flagship project. Shedding its camouflage, the company provided the public with its first clear glimpse of the “Da Han,” or “Great Han.” This imposing executive cruiser is poised to make its formal debut at the upcoming Chengdu Auto Show this August, signaling a major shift in the premium EV segment.
Beyond the Standard Sedan: A New Benchmark
While many industry observers initially dismissed the Da Han as merely a stretched iteration of the existing Han sedan, the reality is far more ambitious. The standard Han has already proven itself as a formidable disruptor, consistently chipping away at the market share traditionally held by legacy internal combustion executive sedans. The Da Han represents a significant leap forward in engineering. With the industry trending toward “range confidence,” this model is expected to push boundaries, with reports suggesting it could offer an impressive 1,000 km of range on a single charge. To put this into perspective, this capability effectively eliminates the “range anxiety” that has historically hindered EV adoption for long-distance travelers. As battery density technology continues to improve-with global EV battery capacity expected to grow by over 20% annually through 2030-vehicles like the Da Han are becoming the new standard for high-end mobility.
