As the second weekend of Tomorrowland gets underway, festival organizers have confirmed a strict policy regarding stage effects. Due to persistent environmental concerns and wildfire alerts, the event has officially curtailed the use of large-scale fireworks and restricted pyrotechnic displays.
### Environmental Precautions in Boom
The decision follows a challenging start to the festival season. During the initial weekend (July 17-19), local authorities in Boom, Belgium, enforced a total prohibition on pyrotechnics. This measure was a direct response to a “code orange” wildfire warning, triggered by severe drought conditions affecting the De Schorre provincial recreational domain.
Jeroen Baert, the Mayor of Boom, emphasized the necessity of these precautions during the first weekend, noting that the high-risk status of local nature reserves made the use of high-speed fireworks untenable. Given that these environmental warnings remain active, the festival is maintaining these safety protocols to protect both the attendees and the surrounding landscape.
