Empowering Georgia’s Next Generation: Gail Bean’s Educational Initiative

Investing in the future of Atlanta’s youth has become a top priority for actress Gail Bean. The 33-year-old star, widely recognized for her compelling performances in hit series like Snowfall and Harlem, is making a tangible impact through her nonprofit organization, Dream Above The Influence. By launching the “All Of My Love Scholarship,” Bean is providing essential financial support to future college students in Atlanta, Georgia, the very city where she spent her formative years.

A Symbolic Commitment to Academic Success

The scholarship program has seen an overwhelming response, with 400 students applying for the award this cycle. Ultimately, 22 high school seniors from the metro Atlanta area were selected to receive funding. Each recipient is set to receive $1,913, a figure carefully chosen by Bean to honor her roots as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Reflecting on the significance of the award, Bean explained to CBS Atlanta that the scholarship’s structure is deeply personal. “I’m a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; hence we have a saying, all of my love, my peace and happiness,” she noted. The number of recipients-22-mirrors the organization’s original founders, while the specific dollar amount of $1,913 commemorates the year the sorority was established at Howard University.

Industry Collaboration Expands Opportunities

The impact of this initiative is growing beyond Bean’s individual efforts. This year, the production team behind The Drop-an anticipated FX spinoff of Snowfall featuring Bean-joined the cause. Their collective contribution allowed the nonprofit to extend its reach, funding two additional scholarships beyond the original goal. This collaborative spirit highlights how entertainment professionals can leverage their platforms to alleviate the burden of college costs and savings plans for deserving families.

As tuition rates continue to climb across the United States, initiatives like these are vital. According to recent data from the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for a private nonprofit four-year institution has risen significantly over the last decade, making private philanthropy an increasingly critical lifeline for students striving to achieve their academic dreams.
