### Hyundai Commences Ioniq 3 Manufacturing in Türkiye
Hyundai has officially kicked off the assembly of its highly anticipated Ioniq 3 at its manufacturing hub in Izmit, Türkiye. This milestone follows a strategic rollout that began earlier this year with the debut of the sporty N Line variant in April, followed by the unveiling of the Standard version just last month.
#### A Strategic Shift Toward Electrification
The Izmit facility has achieved a historic landmark, becoming the first site in the nation to produce an electric passenger vehicle from a global automaker. To facilitate this transition toward sustainable mobility, Hyundai injected €250 million into the plant. This capital was utilized over a rigorous two-year modernization period, upgrading assembly lines to handle the complex requirements of EV battery integration and electric powertrain installation.
#### Decades of Manufacturing Excellence
While the Ioniq 3 represents a new chapter, the Izmit plant is a cornerstone of Hyundai’s global operations. Established in 1997, it holds the title of the brand’s oldest international production site. Over the past 27 years, the company has demonstrated its long-term commitment to the region by pouring a cumulative €1.185 billion into the facility.
This investment underscores a broader industry trend: as global demand for EVs rises, manufacturers are increasingly localizing production to shorten supply chains and reduce logistics costs. By utilizing an existing, well-established workforce, Hyundai is positioning the Ioniq 3 to be a competitive player in the European market, with the first units expected to reach showrooms by September.
