Nene H Expands UMAY Catalog with Upcoming EP ‘Seltsame Fabeln’
Berlin-based producer Nene H is set to return to her own imprint, UMAY, with a brand-new EP titled Seltsame Fabeln. Scheduled for release on October 6th, the project promises a multifaceted exploration of electronic music, balancing high-octane club energy with experimental sound design.
A Dual Approach to Techno
The upcoming record is structured to showcase the artist’s versatility. The opening tracks, “Pferdemädchen” and “War das ein Traum,” lean into the raw, driving intensity of techno. In contrast, the remainder of the EP pivots toward deconstructed arrangements, pushing the boundaries of the genre. Listeners can get an early taste of the project by streaming the lead single, “War das ein Traum,” which is currently available via Bandcamp.
UMAY: A Platform for Diverse Voices
This release marks another milestone for UMAY, the label Nene H established in 2023. The imprint was founded with a clear mission: to provide a dedicated space for SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African), Muslim, and femme artists to share their sonic narratives. As the electronic music industry continues to diversify, labels like UMAY play a critical role in ensuring underrepresented perspectives receive global visibility.
A Prolific Creative Streak
Seltsame Fabeln arrives during a remarkably busy period for the artist. It follows the release of her full-length album ‘Second Skin’, which dropped earlier this year. Nene H’s discography has grown rapidly over the past few years, including her 2021 debut LP Ali علي, the 2022 Trifecta EP, and the 2024 mini-album ISSA SCAM.
Beyond her solo work, Nene H has been deeply involved in community-focused projects. Notably, she and the UMAY team curated the fundraising compilation Letters to a Future Palestine, which featured tracks from prominent electronic artists such as rRoxymore, Alinka, and Hassan Abou Alam, demonstrating the power of dance music as a vehicle for social advocacy.
