Sorare Secures Fresh Capital to Accelerate Path to Profitability
Paris-based fantasy sports powerhouse Sorare is doubling down on its long-term financial goals, successfully closing a new funding round backed by its core group of existing investors. As the company navigates a shifting digital landscape, this capital injection is designed to fuel a strategic pivot toward sustainable growth, bolstered by a revamped free-to-play model and a more disciplined approach to managing licensing expenditures.
Strategic Reinvestment from Long-Term Partners
The latest financial milestone, officially confirmed on September 3rd, sees continued support from venture capital heavyweights including Benchmark, Accel, Partech, and Kibo Ventures. Notably, the company’s co-founders, Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort, also participated in the round. In an interview with Maddyness, Julia confirmed that the financing is valued in the tens of millions of euros. While the specific valuation and total capital raised remain confidential, the structure involves an initial tranche with a follow-up phase planned for the near future.
Growth Metrics and the Road to Black Ink
The company’s financial health is showing signs of a robust turnaround. According to Julia, Sorare recorded an impressive 85% year-on-year surge in net revenue during the first half of 2026. This momentum is supported by a healthy user base, with over 100,000 active participants purchasing digital cards during that period.
While the company previously aimed to reach profitability by late 2025, leadership has recalibrated its timeline. The current objective is to achieve a break-even status by the conclusion of 2027. This adjustment reflects a broader industry trend where high-growth tech firms are prioritizing operational efficiency and long-term stability over rapid, cash-intensive expansion.
Diversifying the User Experience
A cornerstone of Sorare’s strategy to broaden its appeal is the expansion of its product ecosystem, most notably through Arcade. By lowering the barrier to entry, the company is moving beyond its traditional collector-focused roots to capture a wider audience of casual sports fans. Much like how traditional gaming platforms use “freemium” tiers to convert casual players into dedicated fans, Sorare’s new offerings are designed to create a smoother onboarding funnel, ensuring that the platform remains competitive in an increasingly crowded fantasy sports market.
