PSN may have been compromised for over a year now.
Sony faces a serious security crisis with PSN, but fans may not have realized how serious it is yet.
For over a year, multiple incidents have emerged of PlayStation gamers getting their accounts hacked. Sony CFO Lin Tao recently responded to this issue in their latest earnings call Q&A, saying:
First of all, we are aware that there have been a series of incidents. We as management take it seriously.
We apologize to the customers and stakeholders whom we have inconvenienced.
As for the specifics, there are different incidents and we cannot give the details, but cyberattacks are becoming more complex and sophisticated.
However, after this earnings call, Twitter user PSNINSIDE came out with serious accusations. They said this:
Evidence submitted with this report documents thousands of PlayStation Network accounts and PSN IDs, including rare three- and four-character IDs, being advertised, traded, and sold through Telegram, Instagram, and other marketplaces.
Some sellers allegedly claim access to, or cooperation with, individuals inside PlayStation Customer Support.
