WhatsApp users can already create events in a 1:1 conversation and group chats. Now they can also create events that they can share with people who don’t have a WhatsApp account. “Create an event, add a cover photo, share the link, and they can see details and RSVP without downloading the app,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.
The company also said your phone number won’t be shown to event guests you don’t know, and guests without a WhatsApp account will only see the event address after they RSVP.
WhatsApp has also announced Events Home, a one-stop hub for creating and sending customized event invites and managing RSVPs. Users can also set custom reminders and add a plus one.
You can see the complete list of past and upcoming events – including the ones you created or have been invited to – all in one place by heading to the Settings Events menu in WhatsApp.
These new Events updates are already rolling out and will reach everyone in the coming weeks.
