Westend Captures NYC Summer Spirit in New Anthem ‘Feels Better’
Brooklyn’s own tech-house powerhouse, Westend, has officially dropped his latest single, ‘Feels Better.’ Released through his independent label, Trace Amounts, the track serves as a high-octane follow-up to his recent success with ‘The Ceiling.’
The Sonic Pulse of New York City
‘Feels Better’ is more than just a dance floor filler; it is a sonic snapshot of New York City during a period of intense collective euphoria. Produced during the height of the Knicks’ recent playoff excitement, the track mirrors the city’s infectious energy. By blending sharp, rhythmic synth stabs with an irresistible vocal hook, Westend has crafted a record that feels tailor-made for the peak-time slots at major global festivals.
Reflecting on the creative process, Westend shared how the city’s atmosphere influenced his production choices:
“I was in the studio while the Knicks were on their playoff run, and the energy in NYC was palpable-you could sense it in the subways, the local shops, and on the basketball courts. I wanted to bottle that optimism. I drew inspiration from the filter-house legends like Daft Punk, utilizing those classic chopped vocal samples to create something that feels like a quintessential New York summer.”

Trace Amounts: A Growing Hub for House Music
This release represents a significant milestone for Trace Amounts. Since its inception in 2023, the label has served as a dedicated platform for Westend’s creative output and his vision for modern house music. By prioritizing groove-heavy production and club-ready arrangements, the label is quickly establishing itself as a tastemaker in the electronic scene.
A Career Defined by Momentum
Westend’s trajectory has been nothing short of meteoric since he first emerged in 2016. With a discography that boasts collaborations with industry heavyweights like John Summit, ACRAZE, and SIDEPIECE, he has secured his place on prestigious imprints such as Dirtybird and Toolroom. Beyond his own studio work, he remains committed to the industry’s future, actively mentoring up-and-coming talent via his Kick & Bass initiative.
The release of ‘Feels Better’ arrives during a pivotal summer for the producer. Having already commanded stages at major events like Electric Forest and Day Trip, Westend is now preparing for his highly anticipated debut at Lollapalooza this August.
